I also have another copy that's also brand new but only in the original jewel case and unsealed by me to have as a pristine archive copy for physical observation. And then I also have 2 copies of the Expert Software release from , with one being my original I had as a kid that I played and the other a like-new copy I found at a thrift store for a dollar. I'm glad I can say I have my holy grail in my own collection.
A classic the likes of which may never see again, let alone in an official physical format. Sonic 3 points. Zack 1 point. SuperStarOof 2 points. RealSonicKings 1 point. Ivo Robotnik Eggman. When I was a kid, this is how I was introduced to Sonic 3 and I will always be grateful for it.
Familiar power- ups abound, but there are two new Bonus Rounds -- a pinball-style bounce- fest and something that resembles a slot machine. The Special Stage is the same as in Sonic 3, but it's much tougher and has several interesting new elements, such as yellow balls you can jump off.
The game play, fortunately, is much tougher than Sonic 3's. Sonic and Knuckles both have all of Sonic's traditional moves, and they're exactly the same. Knuckles' wall climbing takes a little trick to learn, but it's like bike riding -- once you've got it Sonic and Knuckles looks good -- the graphics resemble Sonic 3's the most.
The Death Egg Zone in particular has beautiful backgrounds. Knuckles is a much more intriguing sprite than Tails; his new moves actually make him more fun to play and more amusing to look at he uses his dreadlocks to fly. Interestingly, when you hook up with Sonic 2 and 3 through Sonic and Knuckles, the colors in the original game look somewhat enhanced. The classic tunes include new themes for every zone and more sound effects, along with the ever-classic Sonic repertoire of pings, plings, and sound bites.
If you're still not convinced, go pound Bison into the dirt and leave us Sonic lovers alone. The little guy's captured our hearts, and this latest innovation in game technology makes it even better. Question: I need help. I'm playing as Knuckles and in Flying Battery Zone, Act 1, I'm stuck in the area where the bombs come out of the ground and then parachute on your head. There's no way out! Answer: Yeah right, whatever. At this point I doubt I'd even notice an extra fitly letters.
I gotta stop doing such a good job - just sorting the mail is getting to be a full-time thing. Anyway, the trick to getting by this spot is simple. Just tune your secret Game Players receiver to the Echidna bandwidth - or just look at the pictures - and the way shall be made clear. This breaks new ground with its 'backward compatability'.
Play the game as Sonic or Knuckles and then, play Sonic 2 or 3 as Knuckles! Beautiful backgrounds and smooth animation make it a winner!
He's bad, he's blue, he's got the world by the short hairs! You know him, you love him - Sonic the Hedgehog! Back, and blue as ever, is Sonic the Hedgehog in his second game of - and this time, he's not alone. Knuckles the Echidna has rolled out a game of his own - well, half a game anyway - and he's every bit as hip and attitude-ridden as the blue spiny one himself. We all saw him first hassling the Hedgehog King in Sonic 3, and if you're like me you were a little disappointed at the end of the game when their expected confrontation just never happened.
Sonic and Knuckles picks up immediately after Sonic 3. Robotnik has survived, and he's still after the Chaos Emeralds. However, having once tricked Knuckles into believing that Sonic was a bad guy, Robotnik tries to eliminate the Echidna Warrior before he can find out the truth - big mistake. You can play as either Sonic or Knuckles, and you get a different game, with a different ending, depending on who you take. Knuckles has most of the same abilities as Sonic - seems an echidna can do a Spin Dash attack just as well as a hedgehog - but he also has a few new tricks.
He can fly for short stretches, climb walls like a mountaineer, and his knuckles can bash through 'most anything. Although he's not as fast as his blue buddy, he can go plenty of places Sonic can't.
