How to install windows on a ibook g4

Genuine Microsoft products are available at trusted, name-brand local and online retailers. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. While there is some support for the last versions sofar as security updates, it is my understanding that Virtual PC, and Windows XP are not being sold anymore to the general public.

Perhaps you could find a used or new-old-stock copy. It runs poorly at best anyway. All interest disappeared with the introduction of Intel Macs that could run Windows natively.

Dec 20, PM in response to louie In response to louie Hi louie, If Virtual PC is no longer offered to the general public, do you know what has become of the rights to copy it? If it has become open ware now, couldn't this person connect to his friends computer with Target Disk Mode and copy it onto his laptop without infringing on any rights?

But I would be skeptical that it could be copied straight from another drive, as you never know what files the installer has put, or where.

For anyone needing to run Windows software on a Mac, a new Intel-based Mac is the only sensible option. Dec 21, AM in response to antkershaw In response to antkershaw Thanks, for all your help everyone. As I only need to runs windows to use the SAGE software that my accountancy course uses, it would be a little unecessary to buy a second macbook just for that given the price and that my current macbook suits all my needs.

I do not mind which of the emulators I use as I can live with the slow performance, but I only really know about virtual pc. Is there a recommended emulator that I can download or shall I just purchase a copy of virtual pc from amazon?

Dec 21, AM in response to antkershaw In response to antkershaw VPC is by far the best of the emulators, so if you're willing to pay for it, that's the way to go. Apr 14, AM. Apr 14, AM in response to rwhuber In response to rwhuber.

Other than a retail Leopard Start up Mac from Installer. I've one of these also a few 'retail Leopard This named install disc would have originally been placed in with a complete computer kit, or made available.

Orphaned software packets from recycled or discarded Macs have some interesting things inside. You can. Anyway, hopefully you can get the correct media install disc set; helps to have about GB of HDD space. Tiger can run better on the original configuration; my iBook G4 inch 1. But I'm happy with it since it's already 10years! This ibook definitely is the best back-up laptop that I've ever used. Feb 5, PM. My iBook G4 is running I think mine can be upgraded to You may be able to upgrade to another version of the os. I have the Tiger discs and thought of doing that but am not certain if I would lose my data. I still love my trusty old iBook. They are great computers. Just the other day I used it to administer Airport Extreme.

Feb 9, PM. Given the cut-off spec for use of Mac OS X If you need a little faster web experience, you could try iCab browser, it is a bit quicker than TenFourFox v. I use an older SeamonkeyPPC from a year ago v 2.

I save most upgrade versions of browsers in their zip or dmg file, so if I need to revert, I can. The iCab browser will run free but has a reminder to consider buying it that can be made to disappear for a time by clicking on it. The original Safari browser is good in that you can use it, and look into its Preference settings, to choose a different browser as system Default browser.
